News: BMW celebrates 30 years of M5 with its fastest-ever production car

THE BMW M5, the high-performance saloon for top executives in a hurry, is 30 years old this year and to celebrate, the car maker has launched not only the fastest-ever version but also its fastest-ever production model.
The M5 30 Jahre Edition (30-year Edition) is powered by a tuned version of the standard M5’s 4.4-litre V8. It produces 592bhp, an increase of 39bhp, and 516 lb ft torque. The result is 0-62mph in a Ferrari-chasing 3.9sec ‒ a not-insignificant 0.4sec faster than the standard M5.

All this power comes at a price, however. The new model, limited to a production run of 300 cars, 30 of which will come to the UK, costs £91,890, or £17,950 more than the standard M5.
That said, the price does include the Competition package (a £6,700 option on the standard M5) bringing ride, handling and steering tweaks. In addition, the new model gets special badging inside and out, and custom paint.
