THE £750,000 McLaren Senna was seen on track in front of the public for the first time at the weekend, during the 76th Goodwood Members’ Meeting.
The video claims it was the car’s dynamic debut but, in fact, that took place a couple of months ago at the launch of McLaren’s new Composite Technology Centre.
The video is worth watching, though, as it shows the prototype Senna being driven at speed (although not flat out during the demonstration, of course), and shows the incredible active rear wing doing its thing to help create downforce under braking (skip to about 7m 40sec).

The Senna part of McLaren’s “Ultimate Series”, which includes the P1 hypercar, also shown in the video, and is the most extreme McLaren road car yet.
Named after Ayrton Senna, legendary Formula One driver, it weighs a little of one ton (1,198kg, making it the lightest McLaren road car since the original McLaren F1. A 211mph “Carbon Theme” upgrade can be specified for an extra £300,000, which reduces weight further.

In addition, the 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 pumps out 789bhp and 590 lb ft of torque, making the Senna the most powerful McLaren road car powered solely by and internal combustion engine ever.
If you want one, though, you’re too late: all 500 units have been reserved. Production begins in the autumn.
The McLaren Senna GTR concept. The final car will weigh a similar amount the road-legal Senna but will be designed for ultimate lap times with more power and torque, and up to 1,000kg of downforce.
As with the P1, the McLaren Senna will come in wild, track-only GTR form, too. Up to 75 of the more powerful Senna GTRs will be produced, each priced at around £1m plus local taxes. Better start saving.
