The Grand Tour video game brings Clarkson chaos to consoles
Will hit store shelves in time for The Grand Tour Season Three
FANS of The Grand Tour will be able to relive their favourite moments from the show, when the series’ official video game is launched next year.
To be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, The Grand Tour Game will allow players to experience some of the best cars and challenges from the Amazon series.
According to developer Amazon Game Studios, The Grand Tour Game will feature “all the smashing, skidding, high-speed action you see on The Grand Tour without the irritating need to sleep in a tent, argue about directions or pay a sudden visit to a local hospital”.
Details are scant right now, though it was confirmed the show’s Eboladrome test rack will feature. Presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will also provide voice-over work for the title, with the announcement trailer suggesting the vehicle line-up will range from the Rimac Concept_One electric supercar which Hammond famously crashed heavily in Switzerland, to James May’s Lada fire engine.
Extra content will also be introduced to The Grand Tour Game after launch. These episodic additions will be released in tandem with the new Grand Tour Season Three episodes, and will consist of cars and locations featured in that week’s show.
In keeping with the programme’s jovial tone, The Grand Tour Game will be a more light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek affair than established racing games like Forza and Gran Turismo. Mario Kart-style temporary abilities will give users a competitive boost in races, though the ‘High Tea’ power-up that shreds other players’ tyres with cups and saucers is unlike anything we’ve seen before from the games industry.
