News: Council removes alley’s infamous yellow lines

IN A volte face that does it credit, Swindon Borough Council has covered over the double yellow lines contractors painted along an alleyway four feet wide.

As Driving reported recently, the alley was barely wide enough for a Renault Twizy let alone the typical car the line painters had in mind.

“It seems the contractors forgot how big cars actually are,” explained a spokesman.

Locals were unimpressed. Businessman Ray Mudhar, who runs Ray’s Autos, said, “It’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen.”

Now it seems his reaction and that of many other locals in the area has been enough to persuade the council to take action. They have painted the lines black, prior to the contractors removing them forever.
