News: Council paints double yellow lines on 3ft wide stretch of tarmac
Double or quits as council’s yellow lines go into overdrive
IT’S BARELY 3ft wide and far too small for even the tiny Smart city car but a stretch of tarmac in one north London street has still been painted with double yellow lines — at both edges, to be on the safe side.
The markings have confused residents of Marriott Road in Islington, north London, who point out that no vehicles use the strip. Islington council said they were put there to discourage motorcycles from parking.
The Sunday Times is looking for other examples of bizarre road markings and signage. Send your nominations to driving@sunday-times.co.uk, along with the location, a photograph of the road and your name and address.
