Test your knowledge: Which British drivers have won the WRC?
Two stunning talents, sorely missed
WITH ELFYN Evans, the exciting new British rallying talent, approaching the end of a successful inaugural season in the World Rally Championship, there’s renewed hope that we’ll soon see a home-grown hero back at the top of the WRC table once more.
Brits have won the series twice in the past but can you name both drivers and, for a bonus (imaginary) point, remember in what years they lifted their respective trophies?

We’ll wager 99% of you were able to recall that the legendary Colin McRae (left) was one of the two British World Rally Championship winners. Almost as many will remember that wonderful Richard Burns (right) was the second name we were after.
If you were also able to say that 1995 and 2001, respectively, were the years in which they won, grab yourself a biscuit for being such a smart cookie. Both men won their titles behind the wheel of a Subaru Impreza.
Sadly, neither driver is still with us. McRae, from Lanark, Scotland died in a helicopter accident in 2007 at the age of 39 while Burns succumbed to a brain tumour, aged 34, just four years after winning his world title. They are sorely missed.
